Made for everyone who loves Lake Travis
A simple, trustworthy place to check the lake — water level, weather, and what it all means for your day on the water.
Our mission
Lake Travis Water Level was created to give the Austin community easy access to accurate, up-to-the-minute water level data. Whether you're a boater, an angler, a swimmer, or simply someone who cares about our local water, this information should be easy to find and easy to understand.
We gather data from official sources like the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) and the National Weather Service, then present it in plain language — no jargon, no guesswork.
Where the data comes from
Everything you see here comes from official, trusted organizations and refreshes roughly every 15 minutes:
Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA)
Provides real-time water level, storage, and temperature data through their Hydromet system.
National Weather Service (NOAA)
Supplies weather forecasts, wind conditions, and precipitation data for the Lake Travis area.
U.S. Geological Survey (USGS)
Contributes additional water flow and monitoring data.
About the lake
Lake Travis is a reservoir on the Colorado River in central Texas, about 13 miles northwest of Austin. It was created in 1942 by the construction of Mansfield Dam and holds roughly 1.1 million acre-feet of water when full (681 feet above sea level).
The lake is a beloved destination for boating, fishing, swimming, and lakeside relaxing. Its level rises and falls with rainfall, dam releases, and the water needs of cities and farms downstream.
